Peaks Coaching founder Hunter Allen launched Project Fuerza to collect performance data from top pros and turn it into art, to be issued as NFTs at the Tour de France.

Top cyclists including Peter Sagan, Geraint Thomas, Mark Cavendish, Dan Martin, Jens Voigt and many more are on board to have their biometrics turned into digital art. Each piece is said to have meaning for the driver as it captures a key performance from their race.

NFTs will be traded on ProjectFuerza.com, with new artwork added every Friday in July. Buyers will own the digital art, which can be verified on the blockchain, and gain access to view the athlete’s complete power profile data for the day. Some even include the opportunity to meet or speak with the rider.

Each NFT also records the driver’s story about that performance, detailing the ride, the atmosphere and their feelings about it. At the top of this post is Mark Cavendish’s recent victory in the British National Championship elite road race. It’s just the last sprint of the race, where Mark won easily. The rock outline is the shape of his sprint power data and the red line is his heart rate. It is 1 of 1 and contains the power file.

Other pieces celebrate Geraint Thomas’ rides, such as this one titled “Surprise Attack” by artist Facundo Kostelak celebrating the 2021 Dauphine Stage 5 (Saint-Chamond to Saint-Vallier). where Geraint attacks with 1k to the finish for the win, holding off Sonny Cobrelli at the finish line. “It wasn’t planned,” Thomas said. “I knew there were no more guys in Bahrain. I knew it was all tangled up and the back end was a bit twisted so I just thought ‘screw it, go ahead’. I went a kilometer to the end, the guys said on the radio that I had a gap, and I just went all in.

“To be honest, I didn’t think I had it on the line. I just sat down two feet from the line to start giving him a big one, but man, Colbrelli went by so fast he almost took my helmet off. But it’s really nice to get that win for sure.” Art converts his strength data and uses this to create a scatter plot, called a Quadrant Analysis, that tells you how the athlete generated strength. Those points are found throughout the artwork, which is a great example of art, imagery, and power data all rolled into one. It contains a file of biometric data..

…and Leah Thomas, with this piece called “Slice of My Life” by Nick Hand, inspired by Ardeche Stage 7 2021. She placed 4th on stage and OVERALL GC winner. “Another strong stage finish for Leah and she’s had quite the journey to take the overall win. Her team was fantastic today and kept everything under control chasing so many attacks. The stage is part of the race, and the race is only part of her life. A very cool piece.”

Rohan Dennis celebrates his USA PRO 2015 Stage 7 and OVERALL WIN with this piece titled “Vision” by artist Patrick Green. “Not everyone sees power the way Rohan does, but when you see a piece of incredible art, and every time you look at it again, you see something new. Quintessential Fuerza NFT”

Other riders include Ryder Hesjedal, the first Canadian to win the Giro D’Italia, and Jens Voigt, with a huge collection of posters around his “Shut Up Legs” mantra, and

More from the press release:

“I’ve been working with the world’s leading athletes for several years and their performance data has always fascinated me,” says Allen. “Combining my passion for art and cycling has created an incredible challenge that we are now ready to share with the world.” The NFTs we offer at FUERZA are a partnership between rider and artist, creating works of art that have emotional meaning.”

Jens Voigt added: “I am happy and proud to be part of this project. FUERZA NFTs uniquely combine the power data of professional cyclists with the artistry of some incredible artists. We have a select group of athletes and I’m sure many people will be fascinated by this unprecedented combination of art and real data. The FUERZA Project creates some of the most amazing artwork using my personal power data gathered from racing. Tour de France, Tour of California and even my last race ever, the Hour Record. The outcome is quite spectacular and quite unique.”

Zdenek Stybar said: “I am really happy to be a part of FUERZA. This is thinking outside the box and that’s absolutely what I love. I didn’t have to think long if I wanted to be a part of it. It’s a very unique project and I’m excited to share the art with everyone.”

FUERZA artist Nick Hand spoke about creating incredible art and working with the world’s leading cyclists…

“Being a part of this project has been an exciting journey,” adds artist Nick Hand. “It was an interesting challenge to take something as clinical as power data and try to combine it into a work of art. Working with world-class athletes was a joy and a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I have just tried to match their atelic power with an equally powerful art.”

When you buy a FUERZA, you are investing in a beautiful and individual work of art with driver information as art or embedded in the image. You also get a license to view the actual ride data file, you don’t own the data, but you can see it!

FUERZA artists have taken the data from a specific ride, plus the ride story from the driver, the race atmosphere, the conditions of the day and more to create a truly memorable, unique and collectible piece of art. NFTs capture the history of cycling in a new, creative and exciting experience. When you see FUERZA, you will get it. When you zoom in, you’ll discover something new. When you have it on your phone and watch it every day, you’ll know. When you get home and see your FUERZA on the wall on your LCD screen, you’ll know. FUERZA was created to connect with you and your passion for art and cycling in a truly special way.
