The social media branch of Meta Platform Inc., is Instagram allegedly on the way to support non-replaceable tokens (NFT) from 4 prominent blockchain protocols including Ethereum (ETH), Solana (SOL), Polygon (MATIC) and Protok (FLOW).
First broken by Coindesca, the social media giant is specifically set up to allow NFTs residing on these blockchains to be displayed as images on the profile of the users who own them.
The social media platform will not charge users for this service, and the installation of NFT will give users the opportunity to prove their ownership and will be able to identify the creators of these digital collectibles to further contribute to their overall authenticity.
The new service or fee is charged to be available only to residents of the United States, and Coindesk was not clear whether support for these blockchain networks would be introduced all at once or in phases. However, it is clear that social networks will support Metamask, the most popular wallet for storing NFTs.
The popularity of NFT has grown by more than one mile since the introduction of CryptoPunks and the early pioneers. Today, many retail investors are collecting NFTs and the visibility that this trend has given to the new edition of blockchain technology is now not negligible.
The choice of 4 blockchains is focused on the fact that most NFT transactions are resident on these blockchains, and integration by Instagram is charged to attract wide acceptance around the world.
With more than a billion monthly active users (MAU), Instagram is a major hub that can help increase overall NFT acceptance and adoption in general. When new integration of NFTs As the SOE was officially launched by the social media giant, the creativity of the social media platform will be fully demonstrated.
