Bitcoin price estimation by crypto fund managers

PWC, the Big Four accounting firm, published its “4. annual report on the global crypto hedge fund ”last week. It was produced together with the Association for Alternative Investment Management (AIMA) and Elwood Asset Management (now part of Coinshares).

The data in the report comes from a survey conducted in April on a sample of 77 specialized crypto hedge fund managers, PWC explained, adding that their total assets under management (AUM) amounted to $ 4.1 billion in 2021.

The report includes bitcoin price forecasts. “We have given crypto fund managers the opportunity to give their estimates of where the price is BTC and the total market capitalization of cryptocurrencies would be December 31, 2022, ”the Big Four accounting firm explained in detail.

The results showed that “although the overall crypto market was pretty bearish, managers were still extremely inclined to BTC“, The report describes. Noting that “the average forecast of BTC the price is $ 75,000, ”PWC said in detail:

Most predictions ranged from $ 75,000 to $ 100,000 (42%), while another 35% predicted BTC the price will be between $ 50,000 and $ 75,000 by the end of 2022.

John Garvey, global leader in financial services at PWC United States, commented:

The recent collapse of Terre has clearly shown the potential risks in digital assets. There will still be volatility, but the market is maturing.

“With that comes not only many more hedge funds focused on crypto and larger AUM, but also more traditional funds entering the crypto space,” he concluded.

PWC also explained that 38% of traditional hedge funds surveyed are currently investing in digital assets, compared to 21% a year ago. The company added:

It is estimated that the number of specialized crypto hedge funds now exceeds 300 globally.

Furthermore, 46% of crypto hedge funds surveyed found that they are involved in investing in cryptocurrencies, 44% are involved in lending, and 49% are involved in borrowing.
