Sailors announce greetings to NFT commemoration of Negro Leagues

Celebrating the last generation of the first Steelheads with the next generation award, Seattle Mariners and Candy Digital will give away all participants in the first club game on Saturday, June 18 against the Los Angeles Angels with a free, exclusive Seattle Steelheads NFT (Non-Fungible) Token.

This first donation of its kind in Mariners history features the Steelhead logo, T-Mobile Park and current Mariners players including JP Crawford, Logan Gilbert and Ty France. Custom notation of match date, match and location of the ticket holder’s seat is also included.

Fans must have a ticket for the MLB Ballpark or Apple Wallet game for the first game (1:10 p.m.) on June 18 against the Los Angeles Angels at T-Mobile Park to receive this exclusive NFT. Fans who will be present with the ticket will receive a redemption email on Monday, June 20th.

“We are thrilled to partner with Candy Digital to create NFTs in honor of black leagues and celebrate their impact on the game of baseball,” said Gregg Greene, vice president of marketing for Mariners. “We are constantly looking for innovative ways to improve the experience of our fans, and creating this digital collector’s item is a new way for fans to connect with the rich history of black leagues and baseball in the Northwest.”

During the first game on Saturday, June 18, the Mariners will wear a replica of the Seattle Steelheads uniform as part of the 1946 Negro League franchise. Tickets for the match are available for purchase at mariners.com/tickets. For more information on NFT, including a list of frequently asked questions, visit mariners.com/NFT.
