Yext aims to give customers control over location data using what3words

An online brand management specialist, Yext, has partnered with what3words, a geocoding system designed to identify any location with a resolution of about a meter.

Through partnerships, companies can more easily direct their customers to any precise location using a unique combination of three random words: what3words address. For example, ///bands.villa.swung identifies a three-meter square on Primrose Hill with a panoramic view of London. Yext users who install the what3words application will automatically add what3words addresses to each of their location entities and can synchronize this new information over the Yext Publisher network.

Fernando Oliveira, vice president of data and product partnership at Yext, said: “A traditional address won’t always direct you to the front door of a location, and business owners will often throw a needle on a map at the building’s physical fingerprint center and call it a day.

“With what3words, Yext users can now tell users exactly where they need to go in the simplest way possible. This level of detail will help companies dramatically improve the navigation experience and differentiate brands in an increasingly digital landscape. ”

Yext syncs critical business information with more than 100 million ads and forwards over a billion updates a year across the largest network of direct integration partners, which includes platforms such as Google, Amazon Alexa, Apple Maps, Facebook and many others. The added support for what3words is the latest example of a continuous innovation that has brought Yext to the top of the G2 category of local ad management for seven consecutive quarters.
